Early Childhood Professional Support Person: Architect of Early Intervention and Family Engagement Location: Early Education Office, District Facilities, & Community Child Care Sites Status: Part-Time Support Position (20 Hours/Week) | Non-Exempt (FLSA) | Paid Bi-Weekly via Hourly Timecard Work Schedule: Part-Time Schedule Following the District School Calendar (Unpaid during school breaks and district holidays) The Opportunity: Guiding Our Youngest Scholars and Connecting Families In Ferguson-Florissant, our "New Chapter" begins with our youngest learners.
Early identification, family partnership, and community outreach are the foundations of lifelong educational success. We are seeking a warm, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented Early Childhood Professional Support Person to join our Parents as Teachers and Early Education team. In this vital early childhood role, you will perform developmental screenings for preschool-aged children at our Early Education center and local child care facilities, facilitate referrals for specialized support, and serve as an ambassador at community fairs and events to connect families with district early education programs.

Salary & Compensation Structure Pay Scale & Classification: Paid on the District Support Staff Hourly Pay Schedule based on hours worked. Hours & Terms: 20 hours per week following the standard school calendar.
Payroll Terms: Paid bi-weekly based on submitted hourly timecards; position does not work or receive pay during district school breaks or holidays.

Role Summary
The Early Childhood Professional Support Person delivers direct screening, referral, and community outreach services for the Parents as Teachers and Early Education programs. Reporting to the Early Education Administrator / Program Coordinator , this position administers standardized developmental evaluations primarily to preschool-aged children, completes required diagnostic documentation, refers children for specialized evaluation services, and represents the district at community outreach events to build family participation.
Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Educational Background: Coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred. Developmental Expertise: In-depth knowledge and expertise in early childhood development and milestones for children ages birth to 5 years old. Screening & Evaluation Familiarity: Experience administering standardized developmental evaluations, such as the DIAL (Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning) and ASQs (Ages & Stages Questionnaires).
Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Personable and approachable, with a demonstrated ability to build trusting connections and communicate effectively with caregivers, staff, and community partners. Organizational Precision: Strong organizational abilities with a track record of completing screening documentation and diagnostic records accurately and on time.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Developmental Screenings & Early Identification Conduct scheduled developmental screenings for preschool-aged children at the Early Education office and area child care facilities. Administer standardized screening tools (e.g., DIAL, ASQ) to assess cognitive, motor, language, and social-emotional growth. Complete all required screening documentation, diagnostic records, and evaluation summaries accurately following each assessment.
- Specialized Referrals & Diagnostic Follow-Up Analyze screening results and make appropriate, timely referrals to the district's Diagnostic Evaluation Team for further assessment when developmental concerns are identified. Connect families with outside community health, developmental, and social service agencies as needed.
- Family Engagement & Group Connections Assist with the planning, setup, and facilitation of Parents as Teachers "Group Connections" events and family workshops. Engage caregivers during screening sessions, providing clear, supportive feedback regarding their child's developmental milestones and progress.
- Community Recruitment & Program Outreach Represent Ferguson-Florissant Early Education programs at district events, local resource fairs, and community gatherings. Distribute promotional flyers and outreach materials to expand program awareness and recruit new families into district early education services. Your Leadership Partners Primary Evaluator: Early Education Administrator / PAT Program Coordinator Collaborative Partners: Diagnostic Evaluation Team, Early Childhood Special Education Staff, Parent Educators, & Local Child Care Directors The Logistics of Your Success Classification: Part-Time Support Staff | 20 Hours/Week (School Calendar Term). Work Setting: Early Education center, local child care centers, and community event spaces. Travel & Flexibility: Local travel between district sites and partner child care facilities required. Physical Readiness: Comfort interacting at eye-level with young children (sitting on floor, bending, stooping) and transporting screening kits and outreach display materials up to 20 lbs.
