Job description

Join our team as an Industrial Engineer and help shape the future of our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will leverage engineering principles, data analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline processes, improve production efficiency, and support operational growth. You'll collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance safety, reduce costs, and maximize equipment and workforce performance.

If you thrive in a manufacturing environment and enjoy turning complex challenges into practical results, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Quality Management Build and maintain the plant quality management system, including inspection plans, control plans, work instructions, and document control. Define inspection and test requirements at receiving, in process, and final assembly, and train operators and supervisors to perform them. Lead nonconformance, corrective action, and prev entive action processes, including material review, disposition, and closure verification.

Run root cause analysis on customer returns, internal scrap, and rework using 5 Why, fishbone, and 8D methods. Track first article inspection, scrap, rework hours, and cost of poor quality, and report them on the plant scorecard each week. Serve as the plant contact for customer quality requirements, source inspections, and supplier quality issues.

Environmental, Health, and Safety You lead the site EHS program and serve as the plant's primary EHS resource. Keep the site in compliance with OSHA, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including permits, OSHA recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting. Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs, and update them as regulations and operations change.

Conduct inspections, audits, and field observations to identify hazards, verify compliance, and drive corrective actions to closure. Plan and deliver safety training that builds hazard awareness and safe work practices. Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental events, facilitate root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Coordinate occupational health, first aid, medical case management, and workers' compensation with plant HR. Lead regulatory inspections and agency interactions for the site. Maintain emergency preparedness and response plans. Hold stop-work authority for unsafe conditions and build a culture of safety, stewardship, and accountability.

Continuous Improvement and Facility Planning Build and maintain the plant's 1 to 3 year strategic roadmap and capital project plan with the plant leadership team, tied to annual business priorities. Map value streams, identify bottlenecks, and lead kaizen events and improvement projects that raise throughput and reduce lead time.

Develop standard work, time studies, and labor standards, and keep routings accurate in the ERP system. Build business cases for capital equipment and process changes, including cost, payback, and risk. Coach supervisors and floor leads in problem solving and lean fundamentals so improvement continues between projects.

Report project status and results to plant and business leadership each month.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering. Working knowledge of OSHA general industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and OSHA recordkeeping. Demonstrated use of lean and problem-solving tools: value stream mapping, standard work, 5S, root cause analysis, and corrective action. Experience leading projects from business case through implementation and results.

Proficiency with Excel for data analysis. Clear verbal and written communication skills with operators, supervisors, leadership, and regulators. Preferred 3-5 years of experience in fabrication, welding, machining, or heavy equipment assembly environments. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. OSHA 30-Hour General Industry, CSP, ASP, or CHST.

ASQ certification (CQE or CQA) or ISO 9001 internal auditor training. Knowledge of welding quality standards such as AWS D1.1. Experience with Net. Suite or a similar ERP system. Work environment You work on site in an active fabrication, machining, and assembly plant, with daily time on the production floor. The role requires personal protective equipment, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasional after-hours response to incidents or customer needs.
