Job description

RW Connection is seeking a dependable, technically minded Inside Sales and Fabricator to join our Glen Burnie branch. This hands-on position combines customer service, technical product support, inside sales, and light fabrication in a busy industrial distribution environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with customers, learning how industrial products and equipment work, using hand tools, taking accurate measurements, and solving practical problems.

This role is a good fit for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to build knowledge in industrial hose, fittings, gaskets, conveyor belting, and related MRO products. The Glen Burnie branch is a close-knit, hands-on operation where employees work closely with customers and team members. The right person will be willing to learn, follow through on commitments, and contribute across the sales counter, fabrication area, and warehouse as needed.

What You Will Do

The mix will shift with customer demand and branch priorities. The ranges below are planning guides, not fixed limits. Customer Service, Inside Sales & Counter Sales Welcome walk-in customers and respond promptly and professionally to phone and email inquiries Listen carefully to customer needs, ask practical questions, and help identify appropriate products or solutions Learn product applications, specifications, and compatibility across industrial hose, fittings, gaskets, conveyor products, and MRO supplies Prepare accurate quotes, enter sales orders, check pricing and availability, and communicate expected lead times Process counter transactions and payments in accordance with company procedures Follow up on quotes, open orders, backorders, special orders, returns, and customer requests until resolved Maintain accurate customer, order, and transaction records in company systems Involved the Branch Manager or technical resources when additional product or application expertise is needed Fabrication & Technical Product Preparation Measure, cut, prepare, and assemble industrial products according to customer specifications Assist with basic hose assembly, product preparation, and other value-added fabrication after training Learn to use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and fabrication machinery safely and accurately Read and follow customer specifications, work instructions, measurements, and job requirements Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and proper fit Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication and work area Develop practical knowledge of industrial materials, tools, equipment, and fabrication processes Branch Support Pick, stage, pack, label, and prepare customer orders for counter pickup, delivery, or shipment Receive inbound shipments, verify quantities and condition, and report discrepancies Stock and organize inventory and assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy Load and unload trucks and move materials using safe material-handling practices Coordinate with purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales, and other branches to resolve order or customer issues Communicate early when a commitment may be missed and bring possible solutions forward Maintain clean, orderly, and safe counter, fabrication, warehouse, and shared work areas Assist with other branch responsibilities as needed Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in learning industrial products, applications, tools, and equipment Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow measurements, specifications, and instructions accurately Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and shop machinery Strong communication skills and a professional, service-minded approach Ability to use computers and learn order-entry, inventory, email, and other business systems Dependable, organized, and able to follow through on assigned work Ability to work independently, ask questions, and contribute proactively to a small team Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and handle heavier or awkward materials with assistance or appropriate equipment Commitment to attendance, punctuality, safety, and company procedures Preferred Qualifications Experience in inside sales, counter sales, technical customer service, fabrication, manufacturing, or a related hands-on environment Experience with industrial hose, hydraulic components, gaskets, conveyor belting, fittings, MRO supplies, automotive or heavy equipment parts, HVAC, plumbing, or similar products Experience reading prints, specifications, measurements, or work instructions Previous experience with hose assembly, gasket fabrication, rubber products, cutting equipment, or other light manufacturing processes Warehouse, inventory control, forklift, or shipping and receiving experience Previous industrial distribution or fabrication experience is helpful but not required.

5 times the regular rate after 40 hours worked in a week.
