Job description
Junior Service Technician Purpose of the Role The Junior Service & Support Technician provides technical and administrative support to senior technicians, engineers and sales consultants in delivering effective after-sales service. The role develops practical technical capability through supervised troubleshooting, site support, commissioning, warranty administration and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Technical and Field Support
- Respond to customer technical queries and escalate complex issues to senior technicians or engineers
- Accompany senior technicians on local site visits and assist with inspections, fault diagnosis and repairs
- Assist with the commissioning and testing of new and upgraded energy systems under supervision
- Support the troubleshooting of energy-system faults and document findings accurately
- Assist with warranty claims and follow up on required technical information Administration and Stakeholder Support
- Support sales consultants with basic technical information relating to products and systems
- Record technical issues, actions taken and resolutions on the company CRM
- Maintain accurate service records and assist with preparing technical documentation
- Participate in team meetings, supplier training and internal learning activities
- Follow company procedures, safety requirements and instructions from senior staff Qualifications and Experience
- Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
- A basic electrical qualification or relevant technical diploma is advantageous
- At least two years’ exposure to technical support, electrical work, renewable energy or backup-power systems
- Valid driver’s licence, proven driving ability
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems Key Competencies
- Willingness to learn, follow instructions and develop technical knowledge.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service orientation.
- Basic troubleshooting, observation and problem-solving ability.
- Reliable, punctual, professional and safety-conscious approach.
- Good organisation, time management and teamworking skills KPIs
- Timely and accurate completion of assigned technical, administrative and CRM tasks.
- Effective support provided during site visits, commissioning and fault-diagnosis activities.
- Accurate documentation of technical issues, actions and warranty claims.
- Compliance with safety procedures, work instructions and escalation requirements.
- Demonstrated progress in technical knowledge and practical capability
