Job description

Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20 Compensation: Salary Range: 21.50 - 34.50 Union Position: No Department Details Work Shift: Three days one week, two days the following week.

Summary Receives and prepares tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. Performs complex histological procedures using techniques to gross, embed, perform microtomy, and stain to make tissue slides used for diagnosis. Job Description Responsible to review slide quality. Maintains and repairs lab instruments.

Disinfects work area and stocks supplies. Ensures all lab safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met. Will work with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice. Will be responsible for performing routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory. May be required to interact with all ages of client population.

Recognize responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care. Keep abreast of new procedures in the department as well as changes in general hospital policy and procedures. Additional Job Description Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.

Possess a national certification as a Histology Technician from an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or must be registry eligible upon hire and receive Histology Technician (HT) certification within twelve months.
