Sanitation / Refuse Collection Worker

Position Overview

LaneStaffing is seeking dependable, hardworking Sanitation / Refuse Collection Workers to support daily residential waste collection and general street maintenance operations. This is an active, outdoor position that requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a crew.

The ideal candidate is reliable, comfortable performing strenuous and repetitive work, and committed to maintaining clean and safe residential areas.

Key Responsibilities

Collect and remove residential garbage along assigned routes. Empty garbage containers into the compactor of a refuse collection truck. Safely operate hydraulic levers and related equipment located on the collection vehicle. Inspect garbage carts and containers for rocks, dirt, wood, metal, or other materials that could damage equipment.

Check sidewalks, curbs, and surrounding collection areas to ensure they are left clean. Pick up loose trash and debris as needed. Assist with street maintenance activities when assigned. Safely operate machinery and equipment associated with assigned duties. Maintain professional and courteous communication with coworkers, supervisors, residents, visitors, and other contacts.

Follow established safety practices, operating procedures, and supervisor instructions. Operate an assigned vehicle for business purposes when required. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Be at least 18 years of age . Possess a valid Texas Driver License and maintain a good driving record. If currently licensed in another state, be able to obtain a Texas Driver License within six months of employment. Be able to take and follow directions from a supervisor. Be able to perform strenuous and repetitive physical work.

Be able to lift and handle medium-weight objects. Have the physical condition and stamina necessary to perform the full duties of the position. Be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Demonstrate good organizational and communication skills. Maintain a professional and positive attitude while representing the organization.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of basic machinery and equipment operation and maintenance. Knowledge of workplace and equipment safety practices. Knowledge of tractor operation. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position involves outdoor, physically demanding work and may require employees to work in varying weather and environmental conditions.

Duties may include frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movement throughout the workday. Candidates should be comfortable working around refuse collection vehicles, machinery, traffic, and residential collection areas while consistently following established safety procedures.
