Research Officer, Laboratory of Diagnostic Accessibility (GIS)

Description Job duties & Responsibilities: This role requires an individual passionate about developing innovative rapid single-molecule point-of-care detection and sequencing technologies. The Research Officer will be able to: Conduct wet lab experiments involving protein purification and assays using various techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and nanopore sequencing; Prepare research findings for publications, reports, and presentations; Undertake the day-to-day running of the project and collaborate with team members in supporting lab operation; Daily lab management tasks such as taking inventory and ordering; Conduct literature searches and analyse data, as well as assist in preparing progress reports; Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures; Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Experience with techniques related to microscopy, nanopore sequencing and nanopore data analysis, yeast display and FACS is a plus but not required. Job Requirements The applicant should: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field. Prior experience in laboratory research involving yeast display, FACS, enzyme and DNA assays, protein expression and purification, nanopores or microscopy is preferred.

Proficiency in routine molecular and cell biology techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing, fluorescence microscopy, and cloning. Strong data analysis and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, able to prepare clear research documentation and contribute to team discussions. Highly organised, detail-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
