FIREFIGHTER EMT functions include but are not limited to the following:Emergency Response: Respond to fire and medical emergencies and other related support calls, assessing situations upon arrival and determining appropriate response actions. Perform fire suppression tactics, rescue operations, and medical interventions according to established protocols. Utilize radio, telephone, and dispatch communications to coordinate emergency response activities. Emergency Medical Duties: Provide emergency medical care to patients, including conducting physical exams, administering necessary medical treatments, and transporting patients to medical facilities. Maintain compliance with all laws and regulations regarding medication storage and handling. Complete medical reports, stock medical supplies, and document all services provided. Equipment Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance on firefighting and medical equipment, ensuring apparatus operates properly and safely. Identify and replace faulty parts as needed, documenting maintenance actions and reporting any issues. Assist with fire station cleaning activities and ensure station property is well-maintained. Administrative Duties: Prepare and maintain reports, assist in planning department objectives, and contribute to the formulation of guidelines, policies, and procedures. Stay informed about developments in firefighting methods and techniques by attending meetings and activities. Community Education: Educate the community about fire safety by responding to inquiries, presenting fire safety tips to schools and businesses, and demonstrating proper fire extinguisher use and first aid procedures. Assist with public tours of the fire station and participate in community outreach events as needed. Continuing Education: Maintain required EMT-B and firefighting certifications by participating in continuing education programs. Attend training sessions to enhance medical, firefighting, driving, and computer skills. Other Duties: Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Education

High School Diploma or GED Experience: No previous relevant work experience is required. Supervisory: No previous supervisory experience is required. Certifications/Licenses Class B Exempt Driver's License DSHS EMT-B TCFP Basic Firefighter
