Description Miller Environmental Group CDL Driver Class A / Field Laborer – Environmental Services Location: Charlotte, NC Job Type: Full Time Position Overview: Miller Environmental Group (MEG) is seeking a dynamic and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Hauling Driver with a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for transporting heavy equipment and freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Your expertise in operating different types of trucks and trailers, including flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks, will be essential to our success.

Compensation

Load and unload equipment at various locations. Ensuring secure placement for transport. Drive a variety of trailers including flatbeds, lowboys, roll back tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to meet delivery schedules. Route driving with a focus on efficiency, safety, and compliance with all federal and state transportation regulations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues. Load and secure heavy equipment (ranging from generators, forklifts to excavation equipment) or freight properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Communicate effectively with dispatcher regarding delivery status, route adjustments, or issues encountered on the road.
Environmental & Industrial Field Work: Assist with environmental cleanup, remediation, spill response, and industrial cleaning Support emergency response deployments and on-call operations Handle, package, and transport regulated materials under supervision Assist in setting up containment and work zones Clean contaminated equipment and work areas using appropriate methods and tools Load and unload tools, materials, debris, and equipment Perform physical labor including digging, shoveling, site preparation, and debris removal Support vacuum truck operations including hose handling and spotting Maintain basic field documentation such as container counts or material tracking Participate in daily safety meetings and required training Report safety hazards, equipment problems, or unusual site conditions Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs Required Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age Proven truck driving experience in freight delivery, heavy equipment hauling, or similar roles.
Familiarity with operating various trailer types such as flatbeds, lowboys, dump trucks, roll-off trucks and heavy equipment. Knowledge of load securement techniques for heavy equipment and freight. Experience with route planning and driving in diverse environments. Ability to load & unload cargo efficiently using forklifts or other handling tools when necessary.
Prior experience in commercial driving roles involving freight transportation and delivery driver responsibilities is highly preferred. and perform heavy physical labor Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Strong reliability, teamwork, and willingness to learn and try new things Must pass DOT physical, fit-for-duty physical, drug/alcohol screening, and background check Preferred Qualifications: Prior CDL driving experience in environmental, industrial, or construction settings Experience with vacuum trucks, tankers, or roll-off equipment Work Environment & Physical Demands: Field-based work performed primarily outdoors for 8–12+ hours per day Exposure to noise, traffic, chemicals, uneven terrain, confined spaces, and elevated work areas Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and operating equipment Required use of PPE including coveralls, gloves, eye protection, respirators, air monitors, and protective suits Ability to wear fully encapsulated Level A PPE with SCBA for extended periods when required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
