5. Meets health and physical requirements JOB GOAL To give specialized academic and physical training to students with disabilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
6. Assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the classroom
7. Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other materials, considering factors such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations of the students
8. Devises special teaching tools, techniques, and equipment
9. Evaluates student progress
10. Establishes student behavior
11. Counsels with parents and students
12. Orders and manages materials and supplies
13. Knows and follows all safety rules and procedures
14. Maintains necessary records and completes necessary paperwork
15. Prepares for assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
16. Attends IEP and M-Team meetings when necessary
17. Maintains order in classroom and on school property
18. Represents the school and the community in a positive manner
19. Reports to the principal when there is knowledge or reasonable suspicion that a child's health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect
20. Actively promotes the use of computer/technology to develop learning skills
21. Performs other duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
