Overview
Position is an ENS for Professional Development with a primary focus on onboarding (specifically the UAP program) MS/MSN in nursing education or related field, required. 1.0 fte/40 hours per week Job Description Summary: The Professional Development Education Nurse Specialist develops tools, theories, skills, and knowledge to advance the practice of the learner based on the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards.
The primary outcomes of nursing professional development practice include: learning, change, professional role competence and growth. Job Description: Essential Functions: Assesses and analyzes the education needs of all levels of nursing and other patient care staff in collaboration with patient care leadership and makes recommendations regarding priority programming.
Designs instructional systems and acts as a consultant to nursing and other patient care services to meet competency needs, age-appropriate patient/family care needs, and other learning needs related to functioning within their job descriptions of all levels of nursing staff, patient care services personnel, and other groups as requested.
Manages, interprets, and provides standards for educational programs and courses which foster quality, state of the art educational methods, process, and outcomes. Teaches and presents educational classes, both formal and informal, in an effective manner and facilitates others to teach competently. Develops and utilizes appropriate evaluation systems to determine the effectiveness of educational activities and analyzes for use in decision making.
Provides information linkage to nursing, other patient care services staff and affiliating faculty related to resources, educational techniques, and application of theory into practice. Promotes patient-focused outcomes and flexibility in a changing workplace through collaboration with all disciplines, group problem solving, cross training, information sharing, and educational consultancy to meet common educational needs.
Education
MS/MSN in nursing education or related field, required. Licensure Requirement: RN, Ohio. Certifications: Certification in Nursing Professional Development, preferred. Must have or obtain within 3 years, Nursing Professional Development (NPD) certification or equivalent. Skills: Competency in nursing clinical practice Professional development applicable to unit/area assigned.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience as an RN, required. Pediatric experience, preferred. Physical Requirements: OCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, Climb stairs/ladder, Electricity, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Loud Noises, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Squat/kneel FREQUENTLY: Depth perception, Repetitive hand/arm use, Standing, Walking CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Color vision, Computer skills, Decision Making, Hearing acuity, Interpreting Data, Peripheral vision, Problem solving, Seeing – Far/near, Sitting Additional Physical Requirements performed but not listed above: (not specified) "The above list of duties is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
