Hourly Nursing Prerequisite Course Navigator Part-Time/Hourly: $40/hour, 25 hours/week Office of Strategic Initiatives and Institutional Effectiveness 301 West State Street Trenton, NJ 08618 Thomas Edison State University was founded in 1972 to break down barriers to degree completion. Summary: The hourly Nursing Prerequisite Course Navigator serves in a pivotal role to connect, track, and support Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing (BSNA) applicants through their journey of prerequisite course completion. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives and will connect Admissions, the W.

Cary Edwards School of Nursing, and the Office of the Registrar staff with information regarding applicants’ progression towards their BSNA application. Job Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of BSNA applicants who need to complete prerequisite courses (not GE).
  • Track all BSNA applicants from the first advising appointment through prerequisite completion.
  • Review the Office of the Registrar’s initial program evaluation to identify remaining prerequisites and facilitate completion.
  • Answer routine applicant questions about approved prerequisite courses, scheduling, and registration. Work in collaboration with advisors, consulting them on proposed changes to the prerequisite course completion plan and referring course equivalency questions as needed.
  • Record prerequisite course completion on the BSNA Tracking Unity Form in On. Base.
  • Notify the nursing advisor when a prerequisite course is not completed with the required minimum grade.
  • Document applicant contacts and prerequisite course completion plans in Colleague.
  • Inform BSNA applicants of process to have official transcripts sent to Office of the Registrar and verify receipt in Colleague XIA.
  • Track prerequisite course completion for reporting to various departments to determine progression toward BSNA application readiness.
  • Guide applicants on how prerequisites may be successfully completed, prioritizing TESU’s 4-Week Accelerated Terms/Courses.
  • Use an established course selection algorithm to assist applicants in selecting the prerequisite course that best fits their plan.
  • Communicate proactively with BSNA applicants as they complete prerequisite courses, sharing a prerequisite completion task list w/ periodic check-ins and updates. Check-ins and updates with applicants should occur following a timeline appropriate to the applicant’s prerequisite course completion plan. Coordinate outreach within the team.
  • As applicants complete all prerequisite course(s), notify the Office of the Registrar and the nursing advisors for application finalization.
  • Ensure Admissions, W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing, Office of the Registrar, and the Office of the Provost are provided with real-time data that supports enrollment objectives. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques essential to perform assigned responsibilities.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Enhanced customer service knowledge.
  • Ability to acquire extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures, especially those related to course evaluation.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply established procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to counsel potential BSNA applicants and others concerning prerequisite courses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain essential records and files.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel Working knowledge of Student Information Systems or the ability to learn them quickly Knowledge of FERPA and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of student records
