  • Sioux Falls, SD, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: None, Salary Range: $23.00Hourly, General Summary of the Position A Crane Crew driver safely operates commercial vehicles. Ensure loads are properly secured and delivered safely. Work directly with other drivers, riggers, signalmen along with crane operators during mobilization and demobilization. Support safe, efficient crane operations through teamwork and communication. Crane Crew is responsible for the safe handling of concrete products and the safety of the individuals working in the area.

Essential Functions

Safe work practices always, ensuring the safety of all employees in the area Regular inspections to ensure equipment meets all operational and safety requirements Operate equipment within safe, allowable tolerances Work longer hours with frequent shifts over 10 hours Work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold Drive truck in forward and reverse, often operating with limited space Communicate by radio with Dispatcher/Supervision Handling and rigging concrete products requiring excellent balance, eye-hand coordination and attention to detail Awareness of surroundings and ever-changing environment Work full time, Monday through Friday with frequent Saturday work Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Contribute to company morale and group commitment to goals Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of safe commercial vehicle operation, including driving, maneuvering, backing, and positioning vehicles in limited or congested work areas.

Knowledge of load securement practices and the proper handling, transporting, loading, and unloading of concrete products and other heavy materials. Knowledge of basic crane, rigging, and lifting operations, including crane capacities, rigging equipment, rigging limitations, and safe working loads. Knowledge of applicable company safety policies, procedures, equipment requirements, and safe work practices.

Ability to inspect vehicles, equipment, tools, rigging, and load securement devices and identify conditions that may affect safe operation. Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment within established operating limits and allowable tolerances. Ability to recognize changing worksite conditions, hazards, and potential risks and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment.

Ability to safely work around cranes, trucks, rigging equipment, concrete products, and other heavy equipment while maintaining awareness of personnel and surroundings. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, riggers, signalmen, crane operators, dispatchers, supervisors, and other personnel, including communication by radio.

Ability to understand, follow, and accurately transmit written and oral instructions, including hand signals and radio communications when applicable. Ability to work effectively as part of a team during crane mobilization, demobilization, loading, unloading, and delivery activities. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently with limited supervision.

Ability to safely handle, lift, push, pull, carry, and position materials and equipment as required by the job. Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds regularly, 40 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to maintain balance, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and multi-limb coordination when handling materials, equipment, rigging, and tools.

Ability to walk and work safely on uneven surfaces, climb ladders, access platforms, and work at elevated locations as required. Ability to work extended shifts, including shifts exceeding 10 hours, and maintain alertness and safe work practices throughout the workday. Ability to work safely in varying and adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

Ability to maintain dependable and consistent attendance and meet established work schedules, including occasional Saturday work. Ability to maintain a positive, cooperative attitude and contribute to team morale and the achievement of department and company goals. Ability to comply with all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.

Education, Training and Experience Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. Class C License, Class B License, Class A License preferred. Work Context Regularly works near moving objects and in climate conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and concrete Noise levels vary within facility.

Hearing protection may be required in loud areas Occasionally required to wear fall protection equipment and/or half mask respirator Safety/Steel toe boots, hard hats and safety glasses required
