Surface Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description NumberPDD1291000 , and is part of the SC FMS 1, South Carolina Army National Guard.

This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The purpose of this position is to provide overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions. Participates with management officials in the planning and establishment of long-range work requirements and schedules.

Serves as the highest-level subject matter expert in the organization for work accomplished. Work activities and functions are typically controlled through two or more levels of supervision. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-11.

Work is covered by the 5800-job family which includes occupations involved in repairing, adjusting, and maintaining self-propelled transportation and other mobile equipment (except aircraft), including any special purpose features with which they may be equipped.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
