Electrical Service Technician - RV Systems & Diagnostics
Job description
Connecticut Motor Cars & Coaches is looking for an electrically skilled technician to join our growing service team in Plainville, Connecticut. We specialize in servicing and repairing motorhomes and RVs, where electrical systems are a major part of nearly everything we do. From 12-volt and 120-volt electrical systems to batteries, charging systems, generators, lighting, motors, controls, and electrical accessories, there's no shortage of interesting work.
We're looking for someone who understands electrical systems, enjoys troubleshooting, and knows how to work through a problem to find the actual cause. Previous RV experience is not required. If you've worked in automotive electrical, electrical installation, maintenance, industrial equipment, electronics, or another hands-on field involving electrical systems, your experience may translate well here.
What we're looking for
is someone who already has electrical knowledge, strong troubleshooting ability, and the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems. What You'll Be Doing This position will focus primarily on diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and installing electrical systems in motorhomes and RVs.
Responsibilities
Diagnosing and repairing 12-volt DC and 120-volt AC electrical systems Troubleshooting electrical failures, shorts, open circuits, and wiring issues Working with batteries, converters, inverters, chargers, and power distribution systems Diagnosing generator-related electrical concerns and power supply issues Installing, repairing, and replacing wiring, switches, relays, fuses, outlets, and electrical components Troubleshooting motors, control boards, sensors, and electrical components associated with RV systems Diagnosing electrical issues involving slide-outs, leveling systems, lighting, and accessories Using multimeters, wiring diagrams, diagnostic equipment, and technical documentation Installing electrical upgrades, additional equipment, and aftermarket accessories Identifying the root cause of electrical problems and completing reliable repairs Assisting with other RV service work as needed You don't need to be familiar with every RV system when you start.
We're looking for someone with a strong electrical foundation who can apply those skills and continue learning. Experience That Translates Well We're interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: Automotive electrical repair and diagnostics Low-voltage electrical systems Residential or commercial electrical work Industrial electrical maintenance Electrical installation and repair Electronics and control systems Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting Generator or power system service General electrical diagnostics Experience with RVs, motorhomes, marine electrical systems, or similar equipment is a plus, but not required.
What We're Looking For
The right person for this position is someone who: Has professional hands-on electrical experience Understands electrical fundamentals and safe work practices Is comfortable using a multimeter and other diagnostic tools Can read and follow wiring diagrams and technical information Knows how to troubleshoot rather than simply replace parts Can work independently and take responsibility for completing a repair Pays attention to detail and takes pride in quality workmanship Is dependable, accountable, and works well with others Can maintain a productive pace without cutting corners Is willing to learn new systems and build on existing skills You don't need to know everything about RV electrical systems.
But you should know how to work with electrical systems, troubleshoot problems, and figure things out. Why Work at Connecticut Motor Cars & Coaches? We're a family-owned, growing service and collision repair facility specializing in motorhomes and RVs. We're not a corporate dealership or a repetitive production-line environment.
Our technicians work on a wide variety of systems, and no two days are exactly alike. Our approximately 25,000-square-foot facility includes 20 bays and the equipment needed to service and repair large motorhomes. We offer: Hourly, salary, overtime-eligible, based on experience and capabilities Monthly performance-based bonus Full-time, year-round employment Monday–Friday work schedule Paid time off Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan with company matching Hands-on training and professional development opportunities Opportunities to learn specialized RV electrical systems and technologies A growing, family-owned company where your work and contributions matter We're looking for people who take their trade seriously, work well with others, and want to be part of a team that's continuing to build something great.
Apply Today If you have electrical experience and are interested in putting those skills to work in a different environment, we'd like to hear from you. RV experience is not required. A solid electrical background, mechanical aptitude, and willingness to learn are what matter most. Please include a valid phone number with your application.
