Solid Waste Management / Garbage Truck Driver

Join Our Team! We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Garbage Truck Driver to support the Solid Waste Management Program at Fort Belvoir, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial refuse collection vehicles and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate garbage trucks to collect, transport, and dispose of solid waste and recyclable materials throughout Fort Belvoir. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Operate hydraulic lifting systems and refuse collection equipment. Follow assigned collection routes and schedules. Comply with DOT regulations, safety procedures, and environmental requirements.

Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, and safety concerns. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

& Requirements Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – Required Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience preferred. Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurability requirements. Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Knowledge of hydraulic systems and refuse collection equipment preferred. Familiarity with waste management and safety procedures preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely. Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check.

Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record. Work Schedule Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM Consistent daytime schedule. Weekend, federal holiday, and after-hours work is generally not required, except for special events. Apply Today!
