5 first-hand experiences · See open roles at Humana

Humana's hiring for its large remote clinical workforce (telephonic care managers, utilization-review nurses) runs through a heavily automated funnel: candidates first record answers to a scripted phone or on-demand interview, then meet a recruiter or hiring manager over webcam, and for care-manager roles may be sent an online job simulation that mimics a day of member calls. Live rounds are almost entirely behavioral and situational rather than clinical-knowledge quizzes, with screening on credentials (case-manager certification, Milliman/InterQual exposure) and, for the military/TRICARE line of business, tolerance for a multi-week security clearance. Non-clinical corporate hiring is much less documented publicly; the only first-hand corporate account found was an entry-level actuarial phone screen conducted by a panel of four at once.

These 5 writeups cover nursing and case management, utilization management, actuarial roles, US only, mostly remote clinical. All of them were posted under a pseudonym (Reddit, GeeksforGeeks or forum handles), so we could not verify the authors’ identities.

Humana’s official process

Humana's own How We Hire page describes a four-stage flow: apply on the career site and get a confirmation email, recruiter review of the application, an interview stage that starts with a recruiter and then moves through the hiring manager and team members via phone, video or in-person rounds, then deliberation, a verbal offer from the recruiter followed by a written offer and onboarding. It explicitly notes that some clinical roles additionally require an online assessment or a visit to a specific location.
