Position Overview

The Direct Support Professional (DSPs) works directly with either children or adults to support activities of daily living, foster independence, and ensure safety. Services are provided in school residential, community group home and community activity-based settings.

Essential Duties

• Provide direct support and supervision to individuals
• Assist individuals with personal hygiene, meal preparation, household tasks, medication administration, and community participation.
• Promote independence, choice, self-advocacy, and meaningful engagement in community activities.
• Assist students in participating in individual and group leisure activities while promoting engagement and independence.
• Teach and support goals and objectives outlined identified in the personalized plan for each child or adult
• Maintain accurate documentation including daily logs, progress notes, medication records, and incident reports.
• Communicate health concerns and updates to nursing staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
