Senior Manager - EJ Ventures

San Francisco, CaliforniaSt. Louis, MissouriNew York, New York, United StatesPosted Oct 9, 2026

Job description

The Corporate Development & EJ Ventures team within our Firm Strategy division drives meaningful value creation for Edward Jones — through strategic investments, acquisitions, new business incubation and partnerships that expand what the firm is capable of delivering to clients and financial advisors. This isn’t just about deploying capital.

It’s about solving real challenges for real people, in support of the firm’s purpose and strategic objectives. To truly drive change for clients and accelerate the business, this team goes beyond our own walls — convening entrepreneurs, investors, financial advisors and others to leverage each other’s strengths and work together as one.

The work is intentional, both in support of the firm’s ambition and because it’s the right thing to do for those we serve. In Corporate Development & EJ Ventures, your growth is shaped by the breadth of what you’re asked to solve — and the caliber of the people you solve it with. You’ll collaborate across senior leadership, legal, finance and strategy teams, building expertise in strategic investments, market scanning, partnership structuring and innovation execution.

We’re identifying and solving client and financial advisor needs — sometimes before they know they need it. That kind of foresight takes a team that’s constantly scanning for what’s next, staying plugged into the external landscape and scanning for trends and disruptions that could reshape our industry. If you’re motivated by work that is measurable, high-stakes and deeply tied to the firm’s future, this is where that work lives.

Key Responsibilities

Sources and qualifies acquisition, investment, and partnership opportunities, guided by an explicit portfolio strategy and growth thesis, shaping the strategic rationale and defining the business case for pursuit. Leads portfolio‑level strategy and allocation decisions, ensuring investments are balanced across growth lanes, capital efficiency, and risk diversification while aligned to enterprise priorities.

Leads end-to-end deal execution, including valuation, financial modeling, deal structuring, diligence planning, and governance through decision forums. Act as a key product and thought partner to both internal and external constituents by owning the end-to-end scoping and development process for any new pilot and/or commercial partnership.

Develops and applies pipeline evaluation frameworks and guardrails to assess ideas, opportunities, and business cases against strategic fit, return expectations, and risk appetite. Coordinates cross-functional due diligence across Finance, Legal, Risk, Technology, and business leaders, integrating findings into clear recommendations and risk mitigations.

Develops and presents investment theses, portfolio‑level implications, valuation outputs, and scenario-based trade-offs to senior stakeholders to support timely, well-supported decisions. Negotiates key commercial terms with counterparties and manages contract workflows to protect enterprise interests while enabling speed to close.

Partners with operating leaders to define integration hypotheses, value capture priorities, and Day 1 readiness, aligning owners, timelines, and success measures. Monitors post-close performance against the deal thesis, surfacing risks, variances, and value capture opportunities to inform portfolio actions and future strategy.

Cultivates internal and external networks, industry relationships, and external partnerships to strengthen sourcing, insight, and influence.
