Java Developer FinTech

Location & Working Model Hybrid | 3 days onsite / 2 days remote in Warsaw About the Team: Join a global engineering organisation of approximately 75 professionals across 7 locations worldwide , including 21 colleagues across EMEA and 11 within WSW . The team develops and supports modern backend services that underpin critical business functions.

The Role: We are looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of commercial software engineering experience . In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot .

You will work in a modern, agile engineering environment and contribute across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with engineers across multiple regions. The role offers the opportunity to work with a modern technology stack spanning event-driven architecture, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted software development .

What You'll Do

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot . Build and support event-driven solutions using Kafka . Develop and deploy cloud-native applications on Kubernetes . Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitLab . Monitor and improve application performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and the Elastic Stack .

Collaborate with distributed engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle . Contribute to code quality, automation, engineering standards, and best practices. Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.

What We're Looking For

Experience 3+ years of professional software engineering experience . Strong commercial experience in Java backend development . Experience working with modern SDLC practices and GitLab . Good understanding of containerisation and orchestration , particularly Docker and Kubernetes. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience working effectively in an international, distributed engineering environment .

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline , or equivalent commercial experience.

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous: Securities settlements and post-trade processing within financial services. AWS . AI-assisted development tools beyond GitHub Copilot.
