Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Welder II is responsible for handling more complex welding tasks, independently interpreting blueprints and specifications, and knowledge of weld symbols while producing high-quality welds. This position requires a strong understanding of various welding techniques, prints, and materials, with minimal supervision. Role and Responsibilities Perform GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding on diverse materials, including steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications. Ability to weld and fabricate flanges and fittings to customer specifications. Read column, head, MS, barrel, prints. Conduct routine maintenance of welding equipment and report any issues. Monitor welding processes to prevent defects and ensure safety.

Assist in training and guiding Welder 1 employees. Maintain a safe and organized workspace. Complete and maintain acceptable production requirements for on-time-delivery. Complete and maintain acceptable quality standards to meet customer specifications. Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

and Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Proficient in AWS D1.1 and ASME Section 9. Fluent in Level I requirements. Knowledge and some experience in multiple welding processes. Strong ability to follow blueprints and technical instructions. Commitment to producing high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work well independently and with a team. Experience with multiple welding tools and equipment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Physical Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Ability to operate jib crane and overhead cranes.

Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs). Comfortable working in a loud, industrial environment with protective gear. Comfortable working in confined spaces or at various heights.
