Supply / Substitute Teacher (K–12)

Location: Dakar Academy (ALL CAMPUSES), Senegal Reports To: School Administration (Principals / Academic Office) Employment Type: On-call / Temporary Position Overview Dakar Academy is seeking qualified and flexible Supply/Substitute Teachers to support our K–12 Christian learning environment. Substitute teachers are responsible for maintaining continuity of instruction, fostering a positive classroom atmosphere, and upholding the school’s mission and values in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities

Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher across various grade levels (K–12). Maintain a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment. Supervise students and ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Adapt to different classroom settings, subjects, and student needs with flexibility.

Manage classroom behavior in a manner consistent with school policies and Christian values. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration. Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and any notable incidents. Perform basic administrative duties such as attendance and classroom organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (Education or related field preferred). Prior teaching or classroom experience is highly desirable. Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly adapt to new environments and follow lesson plans effectively. Proficiency in English (instruction is in English). Alignment with the school’s Christian mission and values.

Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in an international school environment. Working Conditions On-call position with varying hours depending on need.

May be assigned to elementary, middle, or high school classes. Occasional supervision duties (recess, lunch, etc.) may be required.
