About the Role
The Service Apprentice Technician role is designed to provide hands-on training and practical experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of mechanical HVAC equipment. This position serves as an entry point into the technical service field, where the apprentice will work closely with experienced technicians to develop the skills necessary to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
The major end result of this role is to build a strong foundation of technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities that enable the apprentice to independently perform service tasks with high quality and safety standards. Over time, the apprentice will gain proficiency in using diagnostic tools, interpreting technical manuals, and applying best practices in equipment maintenance.
Ultimately, this role supports the organization’s commitment to delivering reliable service and minimizing equipment downtime for customers across the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of mechanical and HVAC systems. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience or coursework in automotive, electrical, or mechanical fields. Familiarity with hand and power tools. Basic computer skills for accessing service manuals and logging work. Certification in safety training such as OSHA 10 or equivalent. Good physical stamina and ability to work in various environments.
Responsibilities
Assist senior technicians in performing routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical and HVAC systems. Learn to diagnose equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools and technical documentation. Follow safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain accurate records of service activities, parts used, and time spent on each job.
Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical knowledge and skills. Support the team in troubleshooting and resolving service issues promptly to minimize downtime. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job progress and challenges. Skills: The required skills such as a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems are essential for the apprentice to grasp fundamental concepts and perform initial service tasks under supervision.
Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions ensures the apprentice can absorb technical knowledge and apply it effectively in daily work.
