Candidates must be able to describe completed projects and their direct responsibility for measurement configuration and startup.[R1.1] Working knowledge of gas and liquid measurement principles and the application of differential pressure, ultrasonic, turbine, and Coriolis meters. Understand how installation conditions, operating range, fluid properties, and instrument accuracy affect measurement performance.

Ability to configure and validate pressure and temperature compensation, gas compressibility, flowing versus base volumes, mass flow, pulse scaling, and totalization, as applicable. Understand the use of gas composition and heating value in energy measurement. Practical experience applying relevant AGA and API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards (MPMS) requirements to assigned measurement systems, including calculation setup, electronic measurement records, and change control.

Ability to read P&IDs, instrument data sheets, loop and wiring diagrams, and communications maps; verify 4–20 mA and pulse signals; and diagnose Modbus addressing, data type, byte order, scaling, and communications issues.
