Electrical Draftsman – Job Description An Electrical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and technical documentation for building and construction projects. Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with electrical design standards, the candidate should be capable of preparing electrical shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare electrical layouts, lighting layouts, power layouts, and cable routing drawings. Develop electrical shop drawings, schematic diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLD), and wiring diagrams. Prepare drawings for lighting, small power, distribution boards, cable trays, and containment systems. Coordinate electrical drawings with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and other MEP services.

Prepare as-built drawings based on site conditions and project requirements. Review engineering drawings and incorporate comments from consultants and project engineers. Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, relevant codes, and authority requirements. Coordinate with site engineers, design engineers, and other disciplines to resolve drawing conflicts.

Maintain drawing revisions and documentation according to project standards.

Required Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP is an advantage. Good understanding of electrical systems and MEP coordination. Ability to read and interpret electrical layouts and technical specifications. Experience in preparing shop drawings and as-built drawings. Knowledge of UAE electrical standards and authority requirements is preferred.

Relevant experience in building construction and high-rise projects is an advantage.
