Job description

Clay County is seeking dependable and compassionate individuals to join our Juvenile Detention team. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and well-being of juveniles in the detention center while providing professional supervision and support.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and secure environment for residents. Ensure juveniles’ basic needs are met. Enforce departmental policies and procedures. Complete required reports and documentation accurately. Assist with crisis intervention and physical restraint when necessary. Perform routine facility duties, including kitchen, laundry, and supply inventory.

Participate in required training, including CPR and physical restraint techniques. Comply with PREA requirements and County safety procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Deputy Juvenile Officer: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related human services field. Candidates should have strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain professional in challenging or potentially hostile situations.
