Job description
Under the direction of the Chief Mechanic, the incumbent will perform maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment used by Public Works. The Sr. Mechanic trains, mentors, and supervises 3 General Mechanics. The Sr. Mechanic oversees day-to-day functions of the garage and is able to ensure proper service and safety of all vehicles serviced by the department.
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Seven (7) plus years of related experience is required. ASE Certified Mechanic including certification in brake maintenance desired. Thorough knowledge of the operation and construction of internal combustion engines, automotive components, and hydraulic assemblies of heavy-duty equipment.
Must maintain a valid driver's license; must provide a yearly DMV Certified Driving History.
