Commis Chef | Luxury Game Reserve | Eastern Cape Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate and eager Commis Chef for a luxury game reserve based in the Eastern Cape. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring culinary professional looking to develop their skills within a five-star safari kitchen environment while gaining valuable hands-on experience across all areas of the kitchen.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior chefs while contributing to the delivery of exceptional guest dining experiences in a remote luxury hospitality setting. Package: Live-in position Salary: R8,500 Key Responsibilities: Assist chefs with daily food preparation and mise en place Support service across various kitchen sections as required Ensure consistent adherence to recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen at all times Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock correctly Support with basic food preparation and plating during service Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff accurately and efficiently Assist with portion control and minimising food waste Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene standards Contribute positively within a fast-paced kitchen environment Requirements: Previous kitchen experience advantageous but not essential Formal culinary training beneficial Strong willingness to learn and develop culinary skills Ability to work well under pressure Good teamwork and communication skills Passion for food and hospitality Personal Attributes: Enthusiastic and eager to grow within the industry Hardworking and reliable Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take instruction Strong team player Detail-oriented and organised This is an ideal opportunity for a junior chef looking to begin their career within a luxury safari environment while gaining invaluable experience in a professional five-star kitchen.
