Job description

Kikoff: The Fintech Powering Financial Security at Scale Kikoff is a profitable, pre-IPO fintech company on a mission to empower everyone to achieve financial security. With record revenue growth in 2025 and a unicorn valuation, we've built a suite of products that help millions of people build credit, access liquidity, and save money. We're scaling fast. Join us if you want to build something meaningful and help millions of people move forward financially.

Why Kikoff:

This is a consumer fintech startup, and you will be working with serial entrepreneurs who have built strong consumer brands and innovative products. We value extreme ownership, clear communication, a strong sense of craftsmanship, and the desire to create lasting work and work relationships. Yes, you can build an exciting business AND have real-life real-customer impact.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Senior GL Accountant to own key parts of our general ledger, from day-to-day transactions through month-end close. You'll be responsible for Accrued Liabilities, Cash, Investments, Fixed Assets, and Compensation & Benefits. This role suits someone who enjoys running the work day to day and also wants to build scalable, well-controlled processes as Kikoff grows. You'll report to the US Controller.

What You Will Do

Month-End Close, Controls & Audit

  • Own close tasks for your areas: journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and expense allocations.
  • Prepare monthly flux and variance analysis, explaining results in the context of the business.
  • Design, document, and run SOX 404 key controls for P2P, payroll, equity, fixed assets, and cash. Maintain process narratives and risk control matrices (RCMs).
  • Prepare audit support and respond to auditor requests for your areas.
  • Lead or support finance system implementations and enhancements, including requirements gathering, configuration, data migration, testing, and rollout.
  • Recommend policy updates where needed. Find manual work and automate it, including with AI tools, partnering with FP&A and teams across the company.
  • Support the Controller on ad hoc projects.

Cash & Investments

  • Record and reconcile daily and monthly cash activity across all bank accounts in NetSuite.
  • Account for investments, including purchases, maturities, interest income, and fair value or amortized cost adjustments. Reconcile to custodian statements.
  • Support cash forecasting and treasury reporting as needed.

Accrued Liabilities

  • Maintain the accruals process, working with budget owners to capture unbilled expenses, and review accruals for completeness.
  • Prepare and maintain prepaid expense and accrual schedules.

Fixed Assets & Internally Developed Software

  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Own accounting for internally developed software under ASC 350-40. Work with Engineering to identify capitalizable projects and track eligible labor and third-party costs. Determine when projects are placed in service, and record amortization and any impairment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Record payroll and related journal entries and reconcile payroll liabilities, benefits, and 401(k) accounts.
  • Calculate and record bonus, commission, and PTO accruals.
  • Own stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718. This includes recording monthly expense, reconciling equity activity (grants, exercises, forfeitures, and cancellations) between Carta and the GL, and preparing related footnote disclosures and audit support.
  • Work with People Ops and our payroll provider to make sure compensation data flows accurately into the GL.

About You

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally a mix of public accounting and in-house roles at a fast-paced or high-growth company. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Strong operational background, with hands-on experience booking payroll and cash, not just reviewing them.
  • SOX 404 experience strongly preferred, including designing, documenting, and running internal controls.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing finance systems (e.g., NetSuite, Ramp, Brex, Carta, or similar), from requirements and configuration through testing and go-live, is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, especially accruals, fixed assets, internally developed software (ASC 350-40), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), and investments.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Ramp, Brex, and Carta is a plus.
  • Proven track record of building scalable, efficient, well-controlled processes.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities independently.
  • Clear written and verbal communicator who works well with non-finance partners.
  • Curious about AI tools and eager to use them to work smarter.

Base Range

$125,000 - $135,000 USD
