EO Lab Technician
Job description
Description Quantum Art is a full-stack quantum computing company developing scalable trapped-ion quantum computers. Our multidisciplinary team designs and builds every layer of the quantum computing stack—from quantum hardware to software and algorithms. We are developing cutting-edge technologies to enable the next generation of fault-tolerant quantum computers.
About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Electro-Optics Lab Technician / Engineer to join our Electro-Optics Group. This is a hands-on laboratory position focused on building, calibrating, and maintaining advanced optical systems that support our trapped-ion quantum computing platform. The ideal candidate enjoys working in the lab, has excellent technical and troubleshooting skills, and takes pride in assembling and maintaining high-precision electro-optical systems.
Requirements
Build, align, calibrate, and characterize electro-optical setups. Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and optimization of the company's laser systems, including maintaining robust and accurate laser frequency locks to ensure reliable operation for trapped-ion experiments. Diagnose and resolve issues in optical and laser systems to maximize system uptime and performance.
Maintain inventory and stock of electro-optical components and laboratory supplies. Provide electro-optical support to R&D laboratories, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of experimental systems. Document procedures, calibrations, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
Required Extensive hands-on experience assembling, aligning, and calibrating precision electro-optical systems. Strong practical laboratory skills and a hands-on approach to technical work. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with researchers and engineers. Preferred Experience working with laser systems, including alignment, maintenance, and frequency stabilization - a big advantage.
Practical engineering or B.Sc. in a relevant field – an advantage. Experience working in an R&D laboratory environment. Familiarity with optical instrumentation, photonics components, and laboratory best practices.
What We're Looking For
A highly technical, hands-on individual who enjoys laboratory work. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality experimental work.
