Prep Cook-Rotating Day/Night Schedule

• Gainesville, VA, Salary Range: $14.50 - $14.50Hourly, The Kitchen Cook – Hot Side is responsible for preparing and cooking hot menu items according to established recipes and standards. This position plays a key role in ensuring food is cooked safely, plated correctly, and served on time. The cook works closely with other kitchen staff to maintain quality, consistency, and cleanliness in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities: Prepare and cook hot menu items (grilled, sautéed, baked, fried, roasted, etc.) according to recipes and standards Set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients and equipment before service Follow proper portion control and presentation guidelines for each dish Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and hot line equipment Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed, including proper storage, temperature control, and hygiene Communicate with kitchen team members and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow Assist with prep work and restocking items during and after shifts Alert supervisors to any food shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns Follow kitchen opening, closing, and cleaning procedures as assigned Job Qualifications Ability to prepare and cook hot food items consistently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Knowledge of or willingness to learn food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards Ability to follow recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines Strong attention to detail and food quality Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks Comfortable working with hot equipment such as grills, ovens, fryers, and stovetops Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet service deadlines Strong communication and teamwork skills Reliable, punctual, and able to follow kitchen procedures Willingness to assist with prep, cleaning, and restocking as needed
