Job description

Registered Nurse I (RN I) Los Angeles, CA | $43.50 - $55.00 per hour Kedren Community Health Center, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse I (RN I) to provide professional nursing care to patients in an acute psychiatric setting. Working as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team and under the guidance of senior nursing staff, the RN I is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

This position is well suited for a recent nursing graduate or early-career RN interested in developing clinical experience in behavioral and psychiatric healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

Assess patient needs and participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized plans of care. Provide direct and indirect nursing care in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, and procedures. Monitor patients for changes in physical, behavioral, and mental health status and respond appropriately.

Administer medications and therapeutic treatments as ordered and within the RN scope of practice. Apply crisis intervention techniques while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Maintain timely, accurate, and complete patient documentation and clinical records. Protect patient rights, privacy, confidentiality, and security. Provide patient education and health promotion as appropriate. Demonstrate compassion, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Participate in patient care conferences, staff development, education programs, and other clinical activities. Follow mandated reporting requirements for suspected child, elder, or dependent adult abuse. Seek guidance and consultation from senior nursing staff when appropriate. Assist with special assignments and other nursing responsibilities as directed by Nursing Management.

Qualifications

Current and valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. New graduate and early-career Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply. 0–2 years of nursing experience working with emotionally or mentally distressed patients preferred. Experience in an acute inpatient psychiatric setting preferred . Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers .

Current CPR certification . Demonstrated crisis intervention, teamwork, and communication skills. Ability to provide care in a fast-paced environment serving high-acuity psychiatric patients. Ability to work effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse patient populations. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation.
