Director of Estimating - Heavy Civil

Urban Infraconstruction is looking for a Director of Estimating to join our Estimating Department. Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the estimating department, including training, mentoring, and developing estimators at various levels. Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects ranging from conceptual budgets to final bid submissions. Develop and implement standardized estimating processes, tools, and best practices to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Direct quantity takeoffs, production rates, and cost analysis for self-performed and subcontracted work. Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing. Lead bid reviews, strategy sessions, and final proposal submissions. Evaluate project risks, constructability concerns, and market conditions to support go/no-go decisions.

Support business development efforts by providing conceptual budgets and preconstruction input for prospective projects.

Qualifications

10–20+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating. Strong background in infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, earthwork, utilities, drainage, and site development. Prior leadership experience managing estimating teams preferred. Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS Heavy. Bid preferred or similar platforms).

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience).
