Business Solutions Specialist Lansing, MI (Remote Eligible) Part-Time, Non-Exempt Help Michigan businesses access practical products, resources, and membership solutions. The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is seeking a customer-focused, organized professional to support outbound and renewal business-to-business sales, customer outreach, and order fulfillment for publications, labor law posters, memberships, and other business solutions.
What You’ll Do Conduct outbound business-to-business phone sales, supported by professional email follow-up, for Michigan Chamber products and services. Communicate product value, answer customer questions, and assist with purchasing decisions and order placement. Support renewal outreach, marketing campaigns, promotional follow-up, and collection of past-due invoices for memberships and publications.
Respond to email, phone, and voicemail inquiries with professional, courteous service. Enter orders and customer information accurately and assist with invoicing, processing, and fulfillment. Maintain accurate prospect and customer records, follow-up activities, and priorities throughout the workday. Support Michigan Chamber events, member engagement activities, special projects, and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
What Success Looks Like You communicate confidently with business professionals by phone and build rapport quickly. You are persistent and productive in outbound sales and renewal outreach while maintaining a positive customer experience. You stay organized, manage multiple accounts and follow-ups, and pay close attention to data accuracy.
You clearly explain products and services and write professional emails and basic correspondence. You contribute to a collaborative, respectful, and results-focused team environment. What an Ideal Candidate Brings High school diploma required; associate’s degree or coursework in business, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred.
One to three years of experience in sales, customer service, telemarketing, or business-to-business outreach is preferred but not required. Experience in an office, call center, retail, or other customer-facing environment is helpful. Strong verbal communication, customer service, organization, time management, and follow-through.
Comfort making outbound calls and working toward sales or activity goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and other business software, with the ability to learn database and CRM tools. Employees are expected to work onsite at the Michigan Chamber office during the initial three-month onboarding and training period. Following successful completion of onboarding, remote work may be available based on demonstrated performance, job proficiency, and business needs. The role includes frequent sitting, standing, walking, and reaching; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds; and the ability to communicate effectively by telephone, computer, and face-to-face.
