Job description
Dreamwear is a leading wholesale intimate apparel and sleepwear company partnering with iconic brands including Juicy Couture, Laura Ashley, Nautica, Danskin, and many more. Through strong global partnerships and deep product expertise, we bring branded apparel from concept to market with a focus on great design, quality, value, and execution.
Our products are sold through many of the world’s leading retailers, making Dreamwear a trusted partner across a diverse and growing portfolio of brands. We are entering an exciting period of growth with the addition of two renowned premium intimates and sleepwear brands to our portfolio: Cosabella and Hanky Panky. As we expand these businesses and continue to grow our overall portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring exceptional fit, construction, and product execution.
Our Technical Design team owns the fit and technical integrity of our garments from initial development through production. Working closely with Design, Product Development, and our global factory partners, the team translates creative vision into production-ready product while maintaining the intended aesthetic, fit, quality, and construction.
The Technical Designer will independently manage assigned product categories, lead fittings, communicate directly with factory partners, and drive fit approvals from initial development through TOP. This person will also serve as a technical resource to cross-functional partners and help mentor more junior members of the team.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent judgment, organization, and communication skills and is comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead fittings on live models, independently evaluating overall fit, proportion, balance, construction, and garment performance. Clearly communicate detailed fit and construction comments to overseas factories, including necessary corrections and recommendations. Own the fit process for assigned styles from first fit through TOP approval, proactively managing timelines and ensuring key deadlines are met.
Create initial specifications based on Design sketches, reference samples, and intended fit, and build and maintain accurate technical packages throughout the development process. Partner closely with Design and Product Development to translate creative concepts into technically sound, production-ready garments. Provide technical guidance on fit, construction, fabrication, and garment engineering while maintaining the intended design aesthetic.
Independently review and approve fit and pre-production samples, identifying potential fit, quality, or construction concerns before production. Measure and spec garments across multiple product categories, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Track and prioritize sample flow across multiple seasons and development calendars, proactively following up on outstanding samples and approvals.
Build strong working relationships with factory partners and troubleshoot technical issues to drive timely, effective solutions. Serve as a technical resource to the broader team and provide guidance and mentorship to junior Technical Design team members. * This job description is not intended to be exhaustive.
Duties and responsibilities
may be changed or modified at any time at the discretion of management.

6–8 years of Technical Design experience within apparel; experience in intimates, sleepwear, lingerie, shapewear, or other soft goods categories is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, patternmaking principles, grading, specifications, and production processes. Experience independently leading fittings and managing styles from development through production.
Ability to interpret Design intent and translate it into clear, actionable technical direction. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify fit and construction issues and recommend effective solutions. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize a high volume of styles and deadlines.
Self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively with Design, Product Development, and factory partners. Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent follow-through. Degree in Patternmaking, Technical Design, Fashion Design, or a related discipline preferred. Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
