What We Are Looking For

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Facilities Management provides strategic leadership and oversight for all facilities operations, capital projects, maintenance services, and safety and security programs across SAC Health locations. This position ensures that clinic facilities are safe, compliant, efficient, and fully operational to support patient care and organizational objectives. The Director leads the Facilities Project Management, Maintenance, and Safety & Security teams, driving performance, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role is responsible for facilities budgeting, vendor management, emergency preparedness, and the successful delivery of construction, renovation, and infrastructure projects. Through effective leadership and operational stewardship, the Director ensures a reliable, secure, and high-performing environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | Location: Brier Clinic, San Bernardino, CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

    • Provide strategic leadership for all facilities operations across clinic locations, ensuring at least 98% operational readiness of buildings, infrastructure, and critical systems annually. *
    • Oversee facility capital improvement and renovation projects, ensuring 90% or more of projects are completed on time and within approved budget and scope. *
    • Develop and manage the Facilities Department budget, maintaining annual expenditures within ±3% of approved budget while identifying and achieving measurable cost-saving opportunities *
    • Direct maintenance operations and preventive maintenance programs, achieving completion of 95% or more of scheduled preventive maintenance activities by established due dates. *
    • Monitor and improve facility work order performance, ensuring 90% or more routine work orders are completed within established service-level agreements (SLAs) and maintaining customer satisfaction scores of 4.5/5 or greater. *
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable healthcare, OSHA, fire/life safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, maintaining zero major compliance citations during inspections and audits. *
    • Lead Safety & Security programs to reduce workplace incidents, security events, and preventable injuries by achieving annual safety performance goals and maintaining completion of 100% required safety corrective actions. *
    • Establish and monitor facility risk management and emergency preparedness programs, conducting a minimum of two organization-wide emergency drills annually and achieving compliance with emergency response standards. *
    • Develop and manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring vendor performance compliance with contractual obligations, service standards, and safety requirements. *
    • Create and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for facilities operations, including maintenance response times, project delivery, compliance metrics, safety incidents, and budget performance, providing quarterly executive reports with actionable improvement plans. *
    • Travel to other SACH clinics and offices as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance. *
    • Other duties as assigned by department leadership. *
  • QUALIFICATIONS *
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Industrial), Construction Management, Architecture, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Master's degrees is preferred. Majoring in *
    • Licensure/Certification: Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance is required. Certification(s) such as: Certified Facility Manager (CFM) through IFMA, Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), OSHA 30-Hour Certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or related safety credential is preferred. *
    • Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive facilities management experience. *
    • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience overseeing facilities, maintenance, construction/project management, safety, or security functions. Experience within healthcare, ambulatory care, community health centers, or multi-site operations strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing capital projects, regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, life-safety programs, and departmental budgets. *
    • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Internet, use of computer and keyboard, skilled with technology devices. *
    • Interpersonal Skills: Strong presentation skills, ability to generate enthusiasm and confidence from others. Highly organized, ability to manage multiple projects with a broad set of goals, willingness to learn quickly and work in a challenging role; ability to work with people from all backgrounds and levels and influence them in a respectful but commanding manner. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. *
    • Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to analyze data, ability to use resources to generate data; ability to understand the issues of community clinics and what it takes for clinics to start up and be successful within the community it serves; must be able to adjust based on new information and data; ability to run, create, and analyze reports. *
