What We Are Looking For
The Director of Clinical Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for clinic operations ensuring alignment with organizational goals, quality standards, and patient care objectives. This role oversees Clinic Site Administrators and Nurse Message Center driving accountability, leadership development, and business acumen across operational teams. The Director formulates strategy and leads initiatives to optimize patient access, workflow efficiency, provider productivity, patient experience, and overall operational performance through data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvement. In partnership with the Chief Operations Officer and organizational leaders, this position develops and executes strategic plans that support growth, financial stewardship, and clinical operational excellence. The Director designs and oversees performance reporting systems, leveraging operational, clinical, and financial data to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and achieve measurable organizational outcomes..
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | Location: Brier Clinic, San Bernardino, CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

Develop and execute annual clinical operations strategies that align with organizational goals, resulting in measurable improvements in patient throughput, access to care, and operational efficiency.

Establish accountability frameworks and operational dashboards for Clinic Site Administrators and review key performance indicators frequently and achieving continuous improvement in targeted measures.

Responsible for leading and supporting the performance of the Nurse Message Center team to ensure maximum continuity of care for patients being seen at various clinical sites.

Design, develop, and oversee operational dashboards, scorecards, and performance reporting systems by analyzing clinical, financial, access, and workforce data; present actionable insights to executive leadership monthly and drive data-informed decisions that achieve established organizational performance targets.

Optimize patient flow processes across all clinic locations by implementing standardized workflows, reducing patient cycle times, improving appointment utilization rates, and increasing provider capacity.

Analyze operational, financial, and clinical performance data to identify trends, establish priorities, and implement corrective action plans that improve organizational performance metrics by predetermined annual targets.

Educate direct reports on healthcare business acumen, including financial stewardship, productivity management, revenue cycle impact, workforce planning, and key performance indicators, through quarterly leadership development programs.

Collaborate with executive leadership, clinical leaders, and support departments to design and implement operational initiatives that enhance quality, patient experience, access, and organizational sustainability.

Monitor clinic and provider productivity metrics, including visit volumes, panel management, no-show rates, and schedule utilization, implementing improvement plans that achieve established performance benchmarks.

Champion change management initiatives related to operational transformation, technology adoption, and workflow redesign, ensuring successful implementation and sustained performance improvements across all service areas.

Collaborate with executive leadership, clinical leaders, and support departments to design and implement operational initiatives that enhance quality, patient experience, access, and organizational sustainability.

Travel to other SACH clinics and offices as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

Other duties as assigned by organization leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Healthcare Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. Master's degree is preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Valid CA Driver's License and auto insurance required. Preferred certification(s) such as: Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience in an ambulatory, multisite, community health center, medical group, FQHC, or integrated healthcare setting. A minimum of five (5) years of direct leadership experience managing managers, clinic leaders, or other operational leaders. Experience overseeing multiple clinic locations and/or provider operations with responsibility for operational performance, patient access, quality outcomes, and financial stewardship is required. Ten (10) years of healthcare operations leadership experience is preferred. Experience within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment is preferred.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Computer competency, EHR experience preferred. Strong organization skills required.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills. Professional demeanor in difficult situations. Must be able to foster an environment of learning and mentoring. Ability to build and lead strong teams.

Essential Mental Abilities: Work independently and in teams. Capable of supervising other employees. Ability to handle complex issues and make sound decisions. Essential Sensory Requirements: Able to hear on the phone and in person.
