Landscapes Equipment Operator

LANDSCAPES EQUIPMENT OPERATOR Sandy Lane Hotel, an AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star exclusive resort and a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is seeking to recruit a Landscapes Equipment Operator. The Role The Equipment Operator reports to the Landscapes Manager and has responsibility to oversee all landscape and hardscape maintenance on the Sandy Lane Estate.

Key duties and responsibilities: Operates light and semi-heavy equipment used in landscape, construction and maintenance Completes ‘sign in/out’ form for all equipment and machinery, which states the condition of the equipment or machines and reports malfunction to the workshop via immediate supervisor Maintain safe and effective working practices while operating equipment Forks, weeds, edges, shapes, prunes and lops garden beds, all plant materials, shrubs and landscaped areas as well as removes trees and large shrubs Clean all hard surfaces, roads, walkways, carparks with backpack blower or hand held blower Positions plants correctly and according to instructions Mows and trims landscape lawns and grass features with garden type mowers as well as weed-whack with a string-trimmer Applies water by hand held hose, watering can, water tanker or through the automotive irrigation system Cleans all power equipment and hand tools after use and places it in allocated space as well as maintain storage area Maintain safe and effective working practices, uses the correct method to maintain the health of plants, provides protection and any labeling to plants, shrubs trees as instructed Performs simple maintenance tasks on equipment e.

g. check and replenish oil and fuels, lubricate grease points, check tyre pressure and/or change tyre check cutting performance, check safety features Wears and keeps uniform neat and clean at all times, including safety gear appropriate to track Performs other reasonable landscape related tasks as requested or directed by team leaders and management Our ideal candidate must possess: One year’s experience in a similar position working at a luxury property A working knowledge of landscape construction and maintenance practices Ability to maintain and operate small hand tools and light power equipment A valid Police Certificate of Character A valid drivers’ license to operate light goods / Truck up to 3 ½ tons ( Category C ) / Wheel tractor Knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety requirements & risk management Ability to follow oral and written instructions The position requires the candidate to be in good physical condition and able to work outdoors.

The candidate is expected to carry out work, which includes lifting, bending, rotating, stretching, climbing and other strenuous duties.
