Job description

Our client is a global travel retailer, distributor and duty-free operator. We are currently partnering them to look for a General Manager to manage their retail operations in KL, Malaysia. As a member of our family-owned business, you will oversee all business matters, including strategic plans, business growth, financials as well as retail operational topics for their duty-free business in Malaysia.

As a General Manager, you will be responsible for the Duty-Free business, ensure long term business plans and financial objectives are achieved, resulting in profitable growth. develop and implement operational strategies to deliver the planned business results, establish targets and manage forecast of sales accurately, identify value-driven solutions to key business challenges and devise initiatives to meet the key performance indicators.

establish strong partnership with landlord, airport, airlines and local authorities, identify growth network opportunities and new sales opportunities to improve overall turnover and profitability. ensure that the Company complies with all local regulations, contractual obligations and conforms with the Airport’s Operating Guidelines.

ensure consistent business updates and reporting to regional management as required. lead a high performance team, ensure the productivity of Team Members and operational demands are met to achieve overall efficiency, inspire and motivate Team Members to achieve set objectives and drive positive engagement, resulting in building Team Members’ capability for growth and development within the function.

What you should bring along a Degree in Business Administration, with practical experience of at least ten years in Retail Operations, and minimum five years of experience in leading teams and stakeholders management. strong business and commercial awareness, understanding of market, consumers and retail trends, with the ability to provide reliable and accurate insights and recommendation to the business.

strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills with the proven ability to sustain long-term relationships. a systematic way of organizing and setting priorities based on business needs and adapt logical and rationale approach in problem solving, meticulous in delivering results, detailed oriented and possesses an analytical approach while taking initiative and making decisions independently.

a pronounced can-do attitude, with keen attention to details, high level of accuracy and complemented by the capability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. a strong and reliable leader with the ability to mentor Team Members and lead a capable Team adapting to business needs.
