Job description
CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST 36001066 Key Responsibility Areas Communicates and establishes critical requirements associated with the design and outlining requirements to technical personnel on the execution of tasks. Controls the outcomes associated with the assembly/preparation of base information and plans for the design form and developing concept plans.
Co-ordinates the preparation of the Engineering Design proposal for basic complexity forms of interacting dimensions. Analyses and interprets the clients brief and interrogates legislation, regulations and other related factors requiring consideration during the design sequence. Presents the design concept to the client and provides detailed explanation of cost parameters.
Co-ordinates sequences associated with the preparation collation of contract documentation and/or the evaluation of tender application. Controls the implementation of time, quality and cost of basic complexity engineering contracts. Disseminates information on the technical aspects of engineering design concepts and provides reports detailing interventions and outcomes.

Registered as a Candidate Civil Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) within 3 months of employment. Valid motor vehicle driving license 2 years relevant post qualification experience. SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST 36001066B Key Responsibility Areas Provides advice/information and guidance on the principles, procedures and applications associated with basic or average complexity Engineering processes encapsulated in specific projects of a broadly defined nature.
Applies principles and techniques associated with the development and presentation of technical designs. Coordinating sequences associated with the preparation collation of contract documentation and/ or the evaluation tender applications. Controls the implementation/ outcomes associated with time, quality and cost of specific basic and average complexity Engineering contracts.
Disseminates information on the professional and technical aspects of engineering design concepts and provides reports detailing interventions and outcomes. Preparing correspondence, reports and/ or verifying the content of reports prepared by Technical Personnel. Competencies Planning and organizing. Organizational Awareness.

Special Conditions Appointment or progression to Chief Civil Engineering Technologist level will be subject to applicants achieving the required number of credits that would be deemed as a pass in the Internal Assessment Test.
CHIEF CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST 36001066C Key Responsibility Areas Provides advice/information and guidance on the principles, procedures and applications associated with average and complex forms of engineering projects and programme. Applies principles and techniques associated with the development and presentation of technical designs for average complexity or complex forms of engineering works.
Disseminates information on the professional aspects of engineering design concepts and provides reports. Coordinates and guides sequences and procedures associated with the preparation and collation of contract documentation and or evaluating tender applications for average or complex forms of engineering works. Defines appropriate standards and controls the implementation/ outcomes of average complexity and complex forms of Engineering contracts.
