Job description

To manage the provision of as effective and efficient sustainable security service with special emphasis on Land Invasion. PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT MANAGER (LAND INVASION) REF NO: 42004168 SECURITY MANAGEMENT DIRECTORATE Total Value of Remuneration Package R1,037,698 / R1,316,710 p.a. Grade: 14 Key Responsibility Areas: •Responsible for controlling and preventing unlawful occupation of Council owned land/property.

•Identifies with the Land Invasion sections strategy with respect to service delivery and defines, implements and monitors the short term plans/objectives. •Directs and controls the key performance Indicators and outcomes of personnel within the Land Invasion Section. •Manages the implementation of financial controls/procedures and provides information to support financial planning sequences.

•Responsible for co-ordinating and controlling key dimensions and requirements associated with the provision of a security service. •Establishing and maintaining procedures and programmes to provide existing informal settlements with basic services such as water, electricity, basic sanitation and access to roads wherever possible.

•Disseminates information on outcomes, current developments, problems and constraints and presents educational material on public safety. •Co-ordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality. •Valid PSIRA Grade A certificate. •Valid firearm competency certificate (handgun, short gun and rifle). •Valid motor vehicle driving license. •4 years relevant experience of which 2 years must be at a supervisory level within the Police or a recognised Security or Law Enforcement environment Preferred Requirements: •Degree (NQF Level 7) in Security Management or Policing or any other related and equivalent qualification •5 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be at a supervisory level within the Police or a recognised Security or Law Enforcement environment Special Conditions: Required to be on standby and work overtime as and when it required.

Employees currently in service as at 31-07-2014 who have 2 years supervisory experience and are studying towards the relevant qualification will be eligible to apply for the post. Employees currently in service as at 31-07-2014 must obtain the following valid certificate: First Aid, Occupational Health and Safety Training and PRISA Grade B within 12 months of assumption of duty.

Physical Requirements: Physical and mentally fit to carry out duties of the post.
