Job description
Program Planner Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.
This role is part of our Space and Launch business, which has contributed to the nation’s space programs for decades by delivering complete solutions from concept to flight. We enable successful space operations with mission-critical technology supporting every step from first launch to final landing, including launch vehicle subsystems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic and interstage systems, and payload protection and deployment.
Our high-performance solutions are engineered to operate in the most extreme environments and meet precise mission requirements. As a Program Planner, you will develop manufacturing plans that guide the production of machined parts and assemblies, ensuring alignment with engineering requirements, quality standards, and program objectives.
You will collaborate with machinists, engineers, program managers, operations, and quality teams to create accurate planning, maintain bills of materials, coordinate purchasing activities, and track material delivery to keep programs on schedule. This role will be based at our Arlington, WA site and will be full-time and on-site.
Responsibilities
Interprets engineered prints and engineering database information to develop complete and accurate manufacturing plans using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Coordinates with program managers and engineers to incorporate product requirements into planning. Integrates fabrication and assembly processes into manufacturing plans in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
Partners with quality engineering and quality assurance to ensure planning accurately reflects quality requirements. Prepares purchase requisitions and develops purchase suggestions based on program needs. Maintains bills of materials (BOMs) and uses them to support purchasing and planning activities. Solicits supplier quotes to support planning and procurement.
Tracks delivery dates and on-time status for purchased and manufactured materials. Works closely with manufacturing departments and suppliers to resolve issues and maintain production progress. Communicates planning changes or deviations to program managers to support program execution. Required Qualifications High school diploma.
Minimum 6 years of experience in an Aerospace machine shop environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related discipline. At least 4 years of experience with EPICOR Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. This position requires U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.
