Manufacturing Engineer – Advanced Assembly

Austin, Texas, United StatesPosted Oct 14, 2026

Job description

Overview

Lutron's Austin Manufacturing Facility is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to own the technical performance and continuous improvement of the Ketra advanced packaging line—the heartbeat of our high-performance, full-spectrum lighting technology. In this role, you’ll serve as technical owner for the line, working across the manufacturing process, automated equipment, product quality, production performance, and new product introduction.

As the primary stakeholder for line performance, you’ll develop expertise in the manufacturing process and equipment for the Ketra emitter. Manufacturing an innovative product like Ketra continually pushes the boundaries of our products and processes. You'll take the lead when new technical challenges emerge—using strong engineering judgment to understand the problem, develop solutions, and drive them through implementation.

You'll draw on expertise from across Lutron while building broad technical knowledge of the product, equipment, and manufacturing processes. We are looking for an engineer with strong technical fundamentals and communication, sound manufacturing judgment, curiosity, and the willingness and ability to learn new technologies.

Experience with semiconductor packaging, die attach, or wire bonding is valuable, but it is not required.

Responsibilities

Own technical performance of the Ketra advanced packaging emitter line, including quality, yield, throughput, uptime, cost, and process stability. Monitor and analyze production data and KPIs to identify emerging issues and opportunities, and drive continuous improvement activities on the line. Lead containment, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective action for problems involving process, equipment, materials, or product, leveraging support from the plant, engineering, suppliers, and other specialists.

Improve manufacturing processes, equipment capability, standard work, process controls, cycle time, yield, and reliability. Partner with Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering teams to introduce new equipment, products, and processes into production. Participate in design reviews and provide Design for Manufacturing feedback for new products.

Plan and execute production evaluations and clearly communicate results and recommendations to engineering and plant stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or another related field. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned. 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, equipment engineering, automation, test engineering, product engineering, quality engineering, or a related hands-on technical role.

Demonstrated ability to solve open-ended technical problems in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience using data to investigate problems or drive measurable process improvements. Strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills. Willing and able to learn new equipment, processes, and technologies. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.

Willingness to work hands-on with manufacturing equipment and spend significant time on the production floor. Willingness to travel up to 10%.
