Project UX Designer 2027 - Philadelphia, PA

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United StatesPosted Oct 14, 2026

Job description

Overview

At Lutron, UX Designers shape how millions of people interact with our industry-leading smart lighting and shading technology every day. From day one, you'll be contributing to digital products that land directly in the hands of our end users, across mobile apps, software applications, web tools, and the touchscreens and controls mounted on real walls in real homes and buildings.

This role sits upstream of traditional design. Before anyone opens Figma, someone must structure an ambiguous problem, get product, engineering, and business pointed at the same outcome, and make the case for what we should build and why. UX designers work across a boundary most digital teams never touch. The same experience might live in an app, on a wall-mounted touchscreen, and in a physical keypad, which means you'll be in the room with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Industrial Engineers, Hardware Engineers, and Marketing, negotiating tradeoffs that are simultaneously about software, manufacturing, and human behavior.

We expect you to bring informed recommendations, focus on driving alignment, and be willing to both defend and revise your ideas as new information emerges. You'll grow through mentorship from industry experts in a genuinely collaborative, cross-functional environment, working alongside researchers, interaction designers, developers, product managers, and marketers to bring intuitive, world-class experiences to life.

Responsibilities

Structure ambiguous problem spaces into questions a team can decide on. Help to support alignment acros s product, engineering, and business functions — and enable better product decisions, earlier. Help build and present the case for direction to stakeholders throughout their assigned project. Turn research, field observation, and customer signals into a point of view of future projects and initiatives.

Design end-to-end user experiences for mobile applications, web portals, touchscreen interfaces, smart home control systems, and lighting and shading controls. Develop world-class user interface designs in Figma for Lutron software applications, mobile apps, and web tools. Contribute to a flexible, coherent design system with component libraries, and to the design themes underpinning the visual language and navigation of our interfaces.

Help define design standards across Lutron products, and maintain consistency between mobile, web, and physical-device experiences. Ensure designs are technically feasible, aligned with business objectives, and grounded in accessibility and usability best practices.
