Dive Instructor Trainee
Job description
The Dive Master is responsible for ensuring the safety of clients during diving activities under the supervision of a certified instructor. This role guides clients throughout their diving experience while maintaining a thorough knowledge of safety procedures, dive gear, boat operations, and ensuring all safety equipment is on board and functional.
The Dive Master must be capable of operating the boat in emergency situations. Additional responsibilities include managing dive bookings, dive classes, dive gear maintenance, and dive shop facilities. The role requires understanding local dive sites, currents, and potential hazards, and managing underwater emergencies when necessary.
The Dive Master leads clients to local dive areas, highlights interesting marine life, and ensures that dives are conducted efficiently and effectively. The role also ensures the dive boat departs on time, divers are properly geared, and seeks opportunities to enhance the overall client dive experience.
Requirements
Willingness to learn and attend training programs. Ability to collaborate effectively to achieve organizational goals. Clear written and verbal communication skills, tailored to the audience. Strong teamwork skills; fosters dialogue and helps build consensus. Open to Bruneian citizens or permanent residents only. Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
Willingness and ability to participate in and complete dive training courses over 12–24 months, including RAID Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Dive master, First Aid, Instructor, and other relevant certifications.
