Event Line Cook

Major Food Group is hiring experienced Event Line Cooks to join our team at THE GRILL! THE GRILL is a historically based American chophouse set in midcentury New York. It takes great inspiration from history; both the time the Seagram Building was built and the restaurants that existed at that time. It is the precursor to the NY Steakhouse, when things were still intricate and elegant.

It celebrates all the animals of the land and some of our favorites from the sea. There is extensive table side preparation and service. There is also extensive use of THE GRILL. It is the name of the restaurant, the style of restaurant, and the piece of equipment we use in the kitchen for many of our signature preparations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces) Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions Clean up station and take care of leftover food Stock inventory appropriately Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2 years of experience in high volume and fine dining restaurants preferred but not required Culinary diploma or equivalent in experience strongly preferred Team-orientated and positive attitude Strong communication skills a must COMPENSATION : $24.
