Summary of Job Description: The Cultural Career Development Associate is a full-time, one-year participant in the Mohegan Tribe Launch Program, an early career initiative designed to support and develop Tribal members. Reporting directly to the Director of Career Development and managed day-to-day by an assigned placement supervisor, the Associate completes structured rotations across Cultural departments.

This role provides hands-on experience, mentorship, cultural learning opportunities, and targeted professional development designed to strengthen workplace readiness, deepen cultural knowledge, and build transferable professional skills. The Cultural Career Associate contributes to departmental initiatives within departments operating under the Council of Elders, supports projects and programs focused on preserving and promoting Mohegan culture, customs, traditions, language, history, and community practices, and gains exposure to diverse cultural, educational, archival, and community-based functions aligned with individual interests and career goals.

Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of Mohegan culture, customs, traditions, language, history, and community practices Ability to participate in community events, cultural activities, and departmental projects as assigned Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships Demonstrated professionalism, accountability, adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and respect for Tribal traditions, community members, staff, and confidential information Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt to new environments, and manage multiple priorities Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar business tools Education, Experience and Training: High school diploma or equivalent Demonstrate a sincere commitment to understanding, preserving, and advancing Mohegan culture, customs, traditions, language, community practices, and history Meet any additional requirements set by the assigned placement department Enrolled Mohegan Tribal Member in good standing Additional Requirements: Commitment to the one-year Launch Program, with participation in rotational assignments and development activities Successful candidate must pass the background check in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPA) Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evening, weekends, and seasonal or irregular hours, as project and program needs require Ability to perform Essential Duties with demands that include: Lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds, pushing/pulling, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and reaching Ability to work in adverse outdoor conditions such as thick underbrush, extreme heat and wetness The Mohegan Tribal Government is committed to Native American Preference and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
