SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY: Research Assistant will report to Dr. Sergei Nekhai. She/he will be guided by a postdoctoral fellow. Experimental design will be conducted by Dr.

Nekhai NATURE AND SCOPE: This is a two-year position supported Dr. Nekhai’s NIH RO1 grant focused on the mechanism of HIV-1 restriction in patients with Sickle Cell Disease and individuals with sickle cell trait. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Order laboratory supply and reagents Maintained culture cell lines. Isolate RNA and proteins from the cells and mouse organs Perform RT-PCR, Western Blot, and immunostaining of paraffin-embedded tissues Organize results and upload them to the cloud storage Participate in the laboratory meetings Help to renew IBC, IACUC and IRB protocols.

CORE COMPETENCIES: Self-motivated, cooperative, and dedicated Good communication skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Experience with cell cultures, agarose gels, PCR and Western blot are preferred MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: B.S. or M.S degree in microbiology, immunology, physiology, or related fields.
