1st Shift Truss Assembler Location: Sanford, NC 27332 Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour Job Type: Full-Time Shift: 1st Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday | 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM Position Overview We are seeking dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Truss Assemblers to join a fast-paced lumber manufacturing and production facility in Sanford, NC.

This position involves assembling wooden roof and floor trusses using lumber, metal connector plates, hand tools, and power tools according to production layouts and specifications. The ideal candidate has previous experience in construction, carpentry, manufacturing, or wood assembly , is comfortable working with tools and measuring equipment, and can perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and safety standards.

Candidates must be reliable, able to work as part of a team, and comfortable working in a hands-on production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Truss Assembly & Production Assemble wooden roof and floor trusses according to production layouts, work orders, and specifications. Measure, position, align, and secure lumber components using appropriate tools and equipment. Install metal connector plates and fasteners to ensure proper structural assembly. Operate hand tools, power drills, nail guns, hammers, tape measures, and other assembly equipment safely and efficiently.

Follow production instructions and basic diagrams to ensure accurate assembly. Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards. Assist with moving, stacking, organizing, and preparing completed trusses for the next stage of production. Quality Control & Safety Inspect lumber and assembled components for defects, damage, and proper alignment.

Verify measurements, connections, and overall assembly quality. Identify and report damaged materials, defective components, or equipment issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area. Follow established workplace safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Work cooperatively with supervisors and team members to maintain an efficient production workflow.

Qualifications

& Requirements Preferred Experience: At least 1 year of experience in construction, carpentry, lumber manufacturing, framing, or a similar hands-on assembly position preferred. Experience working with hand tools and power tools, including hammers, nail guns, drills, and tape measures. Ability to accurately use a measuring tape and perform basic measurements.

Familiarity with assembling wooden structures, framing components, or building materials is highly desirable. Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse production, or assembly line operations is a plus. Additional Requirements: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, and basic assembly diagrams.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a production team. Willingness to follow all safety procedures and production requirements.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequently bend, reach, stoop, squat, push, and pull while assembling materials. Ability to lift and carry lumber, tools, and building materials, with team assistance or lifting equipment when necessary.

Perform repetitive movements involving hands, arms, and upper body. Work in a manufacturing environment that may include noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Safely operate tools and equipment while maintaining awareness of surrounding production activities.
