Job description

General Objectives The Social Worker aims to enhance the well-being and quality of life of people with disabilities and vulnerable individuals by promoting social inclusion, access to health and social services, and empowerment. The role supports arcenciel’s mission to strengthen resilience, foster autonomy, and create a supportive environment where beneficiaries can improve their overall health, dignity, and social participation.

General Tasks

  1. Case Management. Coordinate with the outreach team to ensure an understanding of the targeted beneficiaries’ assessment criteria. Conduct home and field visits to vulnerable individuals in the designated area and complete the necessary interviews to better understand and assess the situation, needs and challenges. Develop an individualized case action plan and update it when needed. Establish priorities and expected outcomes with the beneficiary. Maintain beneficiaries’ records by reviewing case notes; logging events and progress. Follow up continuously on each case until the reach of objectives. Contribute to case reviews and team discussions. Identify protection concerns, risks, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other vulnerabilities and follow arcenciel’s safeguarding procedures.
  2. Referral Assess beneficiaries’ needs and identify appropriate external services, and coordinate internally with other units for service provision. Ensure that beneficiary’s information is handled confidentially and that informed consent is obtained before sharing information or making referrals, as applicable. Explain referral procedures and required documentation to beneficiaries. Prepare and submit referrals to relevant service providers. Follow up with service providers regarding referral outcomes. Document referrals and maintain accurate records in the referral database. Escalate urgent or high-risk cases according to internal procedures.
  3. Networking and Coordination Develop and retain solid connections with potential partners, sectors and relevant actors and ensure the sustainability of the social services unit’s mission and serve the greatest possible number of people Participate in coordination meetings and community networks when required. Liaise with service providers to strengthen referral pathways and collaboration mechanisms. Facilitate partnerships and information sharing to improve beneficiaries’ access to services. Coordinate with external stakeholders to address service gaps and avoid duplication of assistance.
  4. Data Management and Analysis Conduct comprehensive vulnerability and needs assessments. Analyze household socio-economic conditions. Apply the approved vulnerability scoring matrix. Maintain complete case files. Document assessments, decisions, referrals and follow-ups. Ensure accurate database entry. Analyze referral data to identify common needs, service gaps, and barriers to accessing services. Analyze data for planning, prioritization, and decision-making purposes.
  5. Service mapping Develop and maintain an updated database of surrounding service providers, NGOs, CBOs, OPDs, governmental institutions and other stakeholders. Collect and regularly update information on available services, eligibility criteria, geographic coverage, focal points, and referral procedures. Identify service gaps and unmet needs within the targeted communities.
  6. Quality, Compliance, and Organizational Commitment Respect arcenciel's policies, procedures, code of conduct, and safeguarding principles. Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of beneficiary information. Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor that support the objectives of the Social Unit and arcenciel. Working Conditions Job Constraints: Emotional demand, workload and time pressure, many field visits. Frequent travel throughout Lebanon, Exposure to challenging social and economic situations, Occasional work outside regular office hours during activities, emergencies, or special events. Tools, Software used: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Workplace: Office based and multiple locations. Working Schedule: Monday till Friday from 8:00 am till 4:00 pm Type of contract: 9 Months, with possibility of extension based on funding Probation period: 3 Months Requirements Skill set and competencies Strong skills in psychosocial assessment, case management, and individualized support planning. Deep understanding of various disabilities, including physical, sensory, intellectual, and mental disabilities. Strong understanding of human rights, protection principles, safeguarding, and social inclusion. Ability to identify individual needs, risks, vulnerabilities, and appropriate support and referral pathways. Strong case documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills, while maintaining confidentiality and data protection. Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment. Strong communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, educators, therapists, and community organizations. Proficiency in community service techniques and practices. Sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of how cultural factors influence inclusion efforts. Ability to identify barriers faced by beneficiaries and develop creative solutions. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and respect individual privacy. Ability to provide patient and compassionate care to individuals with social needs and vulnerable populations. Strong organizational skills, including managing multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities effectively. Commitment to ethical practice, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and safeguarding principles. Languages: Arabic, French and English are required. Level of education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Social Work or related field in additional to 2 years of experience (preferably in NGO Sector)
